A Day in the Life of the Okavango Lions

In the cool hush of early light,
Nine lions rest after the night.

The morning stirs, the silence breaks,
Two young lions in sunlight wake.

One sharpens claws where shadows fall,
The others drift through grasses tall.

Two heads lift softly through the green,
Their amber eyes serene, unseen.

They rise together, side by side,
Through whispering grass they quietly glide.

Another trio halts its roam,
At peace beneath the Delta’s dome.

Not far away, a young male plays,
A fleeting moment beneath the tree’s soft gaze.

A few lie close where shadows stay,
Still in the hush of the fading day.

A young lion snarls at the light,
The Delta wakes to strength and might.
