Many of the photographs were taken during a nine-day mobile tented safari through Botswana’s Okavango Delta, offering close encounters with some of Africa’s most iconic wildlife.
Three years have passed since that safari inspired Nine Days in Eden. Yet the memories remain remarkably vivid: the watchful eyes of a leopard hidden in the reeds, the call of a hyena echoing through the night, a family of elephants crossing a floodplain, wild dogs resting beneath the shade of a tree, three black-maned lion brothers patrolling their territory.
This gallery brings together a selection of portraits and encounters from that journey that appeared in Nine Days in Eden. Together they reflect the extraordinary diversity of the Delta and the wildlife that makes it one of Africa’s most remarkable ecosystems.
Looking back, I am reminded that the experience was never simply about photography. It was about sharing a landscape where lions, leopards, wild dogs, elephants, birds and countless other species still live largely as they always have. These images are a tribute to those moments and to the enduring magic of the Okavango.
